In 2025, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in India on either March 30 or March 31. Like all Islamic festivals, it is celebrated based on the lunar calendar. If the Eid ul Fitr moon is sighted in India on March 29, then Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on March 30. However, if the moon is sighted on March 30, then Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on March 31, Inshaallah.

What should we do on Eid-ul-Fitr?

Sadaqah al-fitr should be given: On the day of Eid, the first priority should be to give sadaqah al-fitr. ideally, sadaqah al-Fitr should be given during the month of Ramadan itself. However, if someone cannot give during Ramadan for any reason, they must ensure it was given before the Eid ul Fitr prayer at all costs.

Wearing new or clean clothes: On the day of Eid, one should wake up early in the morning, perform the fajr prayer, take a bath (ghusl), and wear new or clean clothes. it is also recommended to apply Attar, as these are among the Sunnahs of our beloved prophet.

One should return by a different route: When going for the Eid prayer, try to return using a different route instead of the one you took, if there is no alternative route, returning by the same path is fine and not an issue. However, if another route is available, it is recommended to return by a different one.

One should reach the Eidgah or mosque on time: Additionally, one must arrive at the Eid gah or mosque on time to perform the Eid prayer with the Jamat, as the Eid prayer cannot be performed without a jamat. Moreover, the Eid prayer cannot be made up later. Therefore, make sure to reach the Eidgah or mosque on time and perform the Eid prayer with the jamaat.

Listen to the khutbah: The khutbah during the Eid prayer takes place after the salah. Therefore, once the prayer is completed, do not go from it, instead, make sure to listen to the Khutba because it is a Sunnah. After the khutbah, make Du’a, and then celebrate Eid with your Muslim brother, and your family.
